Phone Time is a Health Discussion

With humans now having more information than ever feasibly conceived at any given moment with the advent of the internet and the convenience of anywhere accessibility of cellular phones; phone usage would be high amongst the population just based on our inquisitive nature. I don't think most people are aware of some of the side effects of cell phone usage and my goal here is to inform. Don't stop using your cell phones as they're a great tool; just understand all tools come with recommended usage.


Blue Light


Our cell phones emit blue light which can hurt our circadian rhythm or sleep schedule. People love to look at their cell phones while in their beds but it's important to remember blue light not only affects how fast we go to sleep but our REM cycle as well. Phones in the bed are a big no-no in general bed for sleeping and a recipe for waking up tired. You can find more info: here


Digital Eye Strain


Do you have frequent dry eye, headaches, eye fatigue, or neck, and shoulder pain? These are some of the symptoms associated with digital eye strain. It's at least worth considering if you are in front of a screen for extended periods. You can find more info: here


Text Neck


The physical position that we look at our phones can have an impact on the position of our spine over time. Text neck is a reference to that stress or forward head posture seen from phone usage. Forward head posture can lead to a whole host of other symptoms; You can find more info: here
