START HERE, if you're on the fence.
So you've had enough, you've decided it's time to get started on your goals. You've put them off long enough. You tell yourself on Monday I'll get started. And so begins the negative feed back loop; kick the can down the road and then what typically happens on Monday? Mmmm maybe I'll start tomorrow? Or perhaps next week.
This postponing of new positive behaviors is super common among clients and is often accompanied with anxieties and worries across a variety of topics associated with beginning the exercise process. As the individual begins to worry about starting an exercise regimen they then begin to catastrophize instead about future problems that have not occurred and then post pone.
Recognizing this pattern is the first step to breaking this pattern.
So what do I do different?
Break the habit; do it now. Go outside and start walking, drive to the gym with that membership right now. You have the time and you're free, do it now. Yes, it's uncomfortable, yes you would rather sit around and not do that, yes there are other reasons you are making... but if you want to break the cycle; at some point, now is the time. Start small but you have to recognize postponing and instead decide now is the time at some point!
